Big Ticket Festival, typically held in Gaylord, Michigan, took a perma roadtrip down to Ionia this year. Unlike most of the attendees, I got to experience the behind the scenes atmosphere with a lot of the artists, road managers & Big Ticket volunteers. I work in the music industry full-time and have had such an encouraging experience over the years. It's one thing to watch a live show or be lead in worship by someone, but to interact with them on a social level behind the scenese, you really get to see the true colors of a person.
Despite the down pouring rains, muddy grounds & lack of sleep, everyone was still looking towards one goal throughout the entire weekend. The scripture Philippians 3:14 comes to mind when thinking about the goal everyone involved with this festival was pressing towards; "I will press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." Fixing our eyes & hearts on Christ was the center of Big Ticket Festival, making it a goal for every attendee & volunteer that walked through the gate to gain that same perspective. The move to Ionia made a huge impact on the attendance of the festival. The festival had a 30% growth in attendance this year. Knowing that the festival's owner isn't looking at a jump in attendance as a jump in his wallet, but that he's looking at winning the souls for the kingdom of God, makes joy overflow within me knowing that 30% more of God's people were ministered to through the bands, prayer tents & speakers at this years Big Ticket Festival in Ionia. My prayer for the bands & speakers that are traveling, promoters putting on festivals & shows constantly, worship leaders & Christians everywhere is that we would fix our eyes on the prize & that we'd look to Jesus in everything we do.
