BIO

Cities and Saints is a four member melodic alternative rock band from Grand Rapids, MI. The band’s crisp, energetic rock has drawn comparisons to artists like Anberlin, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, and Paramore.

Cities and Saints began performing in April 2010. Since then, the band has opened for Jars of Clay, Hawk Nelson, Fireflight, Amely, Rookie of the Year and The Narrative (2x). The band has been featured at Big Ticket Festival, Irie-Festival, Grand Rapids Festival of the Arts, Taste of Grand Rapids, and WoStock.

Cities and Saints' debut EP, "Send the Morning," was released November of 2010. The four song EP was recorded in Grand Rapids, MI at StudiOtte (Continuance, La Dispute) and mixed by Nick Radovanovic (Acceptance, Hangnail) at Skies Fall Studio in Kenosha, WI.

Cities and Saints’ live performances are full of energy, passion, and intricate musicianship. Lead singer and pianist Marty Lamain performs with a confidence derived from years of classical and contemporary training. By blending detailed rhythm parts, melodic riffs and tight solos, guitarist Evan Walters brings a level of craftsmanship typically attained only with the combination of two guitar players.

Most important, the members of Cities and Saints share the desire to make a positive influence on listeners and concert-goers. Quoted in Alternative Press Magazine, bassist Scott Walters, “A lot of our songs are about serious issues facing today’s youth. It is important they know that they are not alone; that there are other people who know what they are going through.”
